Police Officer, Kebaowek Police Department
Position Type: 2-year contract

Work Schedule: Day shift, night shift and weekend
Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Police of Kebaowek, you will maintain peace order and public safety within the jurisdiction you will be appointed. Principal tasks will include but not be limited to:
- Enforcing laws and regulations in the community by responding to emergency calls, bringing culprits to court, conducting patrols, investigations, surveillance, and searches.
- Bringing to justice individuals who contravene statutes and regulations within the jurisdiction of Kebaowek First Nations.
- Applying highway safety code and community by-laws.
- Promoting the well-being of the community.
- Completing any other key activities to help prevent crime.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have completed an official Post-Secondary Diploma (D.E.C. or A.E.C.) in Police Foundation or Law enforcement (College, CEGEP) through a training institution recognized by the École Nationale de Police du Québec (ENPQ).
- Must have a valid 4A driving license or provincial equivalent.
- Must be allowed to work in the province of Quebec.
- Must have no criminal record.
- Must complete the Police Technology Program and Patrol Office Training.
- Selected candidates must be willing to undertake ongoing training to upgrade their skills and techniques.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comfortable working with the public.
- Demonstrates flexibility, calm and professionalism when responding to challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
- Good physical health.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with co-workers and the community we serve.
- General understanding and awareness of First Nations history in Canada, an asset.

Selected applicants will be contacted for a phone or in-person interview and be subject to a criminal record check and a character investigation. Successful applicants are expected to sign a 2-year contract with the Police Department and will be subject to a 6-month probationary assessment.
